Our Therapists

PhysioCare Services

PhysioCare Physical Therapy provides orthopedic rehabilitation for spine and extremities including pre and post surgical interventions as well as conservative management. We help patients suffering from chronic pain, acute trauma and repetitive use injuries to return to optimal function.

In addition to providing the highest level of musculoskeletal rehabilitation, PhysioCare also specializes in Manual Therapy, Gait/Running analysis, Custom Orthotics, Performing Arts Rehabilitation, Balance disorders and Women’s Health.

Manual Therapy

Manual Physical Therapy is a specialized orthopedic field. The scope of the practice includes the ability to accurately evaluate the integrity, mobility, and function of every joint in the body, as well as utilize specific hands-on techniques to relieve pain and restore function. Utilizing these skills allows the Physical Therapist to assess both the specific pain generating tissue, as well as its contribution to the function of the body as a whole.

The therapists at PhysioCare integrate their skills as manual therapists with movement/ muscle retraining, education, bracing, and possible use of modalities to achieve the best possible functional outcome.

Gait/Running Analysis

The physical therapists at PhysioCare are able to correlate the findings of your gait analysis and biomechanical evaluation to develop a comprehensive individualized program to maximize your function and relieve pain. We are even able to use slow motion digital recording as both an educational/biofeedback tool and an objective measure of the effectiveness of the intervention. Your individualized physical therapy program could include a home exercise program of stretching and or strengthening, education on sport and dress shoe wear, specific gait/ movement modifications, specific training programs, and appropriate use of bracing, insoles and taping techniques.

We also can analyze high level athletic movement patterns such as cutting, sprinting, and jumping. Both injury prevention and sport/dance performance can benefit from PhysioCare’s individualized interventions.

Custom Orthotics

Some of the physical therapists at PhysioCare specialize in biomechanics, gait/running analysis and custom orthotics. Custom orthotics are shoe insoles that are created specifically for your foot to correct abnormal or excessive movements and pressures. Orthotics are effective tools in reducing repetitive stresses, facilitating optimal movement patterns and creating symmetry in your body. Many foot, ankle, knee, hip and back pain suffers can benefit from a custom made orthotic device. They are not just used by athletes to reduce repetitive stresses and optimize performance, they are used by everyday people to reduce pain and improve comfort.

Balance Disorders

Balance is maintained by a complex interplay of systems in the body. The inner ear, visual feedback, proprioception (nerves telling us where we are in space), musculoskeletal integrity and strength all contribute to our balance. PhysioCare takes balance disorders very seriously as falls are a major cause of injury in many of our patients and represents a huge strain on our health care system. The PTs at PhysioCare are able to evaluate your balance and come up with a focused program to address the impairments that are preventing proper balance and stability.

Women's Health

The Women’s Health program at PhysioCare includes a comprehensive musculoskeletal evaluation, consultation, and development of a treatment plan. Treatment is individualized for women experiencing difficulties during and after pregnancy, pelvic pain, or urinary incontinence. Treatment can include, but is not limited to,

  • EMG biofeedback to identify and control pelvic floor musculature
  • Manual therapy techniques to improve pelvic alignment and mobility
  • Myofascial massage techniques
  • Education on pathology, home exercise, and an individual in-clinic treatment program

Pregnancy Related Musculoskeletal Pain

With pregnancy related pain, women often feel that pain is just to be expected with pregnancy. This is not always the case. Oftentimes, pain can be related to musculoskeletal changes that are occurring, including loose/lax ligaments and joints, changing of the woman’s center of gravity, increased rounding of upper shoulders and back. These changes can be addressed with body mechanics and movement education, appropriate strengthening and stretching exercises, and hands-on therapy. Manual therapy, such as massage and muscle energy techniques are effective means of relieving stress and pain of the body.

Pelvic Floor Pain and Urinary Incontinence

Physical Therapy for pelvic pain or urinary incontinence is a specialty that focuses on internal musculature dysfunction. During treatment for either of these conditions, your therapist will use various techniques to help you identify these muscles and how to promote proper function. Other factors that may affect how your pelvic floor is functioning include lower spine problems, weakness of the hips or core (abdominal/back) stabilizers, and even stress and hormonal changes. Each segment will be addressed and the pieces will be put together to help relieve pain and improve function.

Performing Arts Rehabilitation

You shouldn't take a broken Ferrari to a Hyundai dealership for repairs. Furthermore, you shouldn't trust your dance rehabilitation to just any physical therapy clinic. You deserve the best care available by therapists who are experts and who understand the stresses that are placed on the dancer's mind and body. We use our knowledge of biomechanics and physiology to individually assess your abilities and dysfunctions. We then create a custom program to heal your pain and maximize your body. Our knowledge of muscle recruitment and manual therapy will help you raise your control over your movement, improve the finesse of your routines and increase the confidence of your dance. We will work cohesively with your instructors and the results will be obvious and measurable.
